There are 7,770 hair salons in NYC Feb. 2023.

There were 11,000 before the pandemic in June 2018.

Hair salons and stylists were challenged hard in NYC with the Covid more than in any other city in the US.

It showed us how vulnerable being a hairdresser can be in New York City. We’ve never felt and seen this way.

However, Minima Hair Beauty wants to create a group of people who refuse to stop hairdressing or move out of New York City.

Proud of still standing and evolving after the pandemic, and always will.

In our life journey, we are always growing. It is so beautiful. We want to be here for your hairdressing today and your hair journey.

Minima Hair Beauty wants to create a sustainable salon career for talented hair professionals.

Stays revolving to Innovate for Pushing the Boundaries.

We all can grow in careers from wherever we are, not just having a job.

This is Minima Hair Beauty's Dream to perform our best for you and ourselves.

Besides a few big corporations, the hair salon industry is mainly a small service business.

We become Hairdressers only passionate about creativity and care to make people happy.

So, go to a beauty school, and get a cosmetology license.

Become an assistant in a commission salon while learning and training

millions of skills to be a junior hairstylist.

Become a stylist. After years of working in a commission salon,

we became a talented and booked stylist.

Commission salons want stylists’ books full all day long

and keep them working on a commission based.

Yes, commission salons are a big part of hairstylists’ path.

We need them up until we build our own clientele.

The problem for these stylists at this stage is getting paid only about 40% of what they make. And there is no place to grow in most of the small commission salons from here.

Sadly we’ve seen many people quit hairdressing and leave New York City. It happened significantly during the pandemic because of fewer clients in all salons in New York City. How can they support themselves for NYC living costs with a 40% commission with few clients?

But we knew it has always happened behind the seen for the same reasons.

The pandemic just highlighted it.

So, how can stylists do better for themselves from here?

Opening a salon in New York City is not so easy unless funded by the family.

Saving up ourselves even for a small business loan…

Again, with only paid 40% of your work, the high living cost of New York City, and the need to save for a commercial lease in New York City is not a small challenge…

Leaving NYC for doing hair elsewhere is not a bad idea...

There are many places talented stylists from NYC can do better with less living costs.

But what about is that good for New Yorkers Hair?

So, some talented real New Yorker and booked commission stylists become chair renters

if luckily they didn't leave the big apple for good.

Chair Rent is renting a chair in a salon as an independent freelancer. It is a great start.

The biggest challenge for chair renters is there are no walk-ins or new clients for them. Chair rent salons don’t help it as commission salons.

In New York City, people are always coming in and moving away.

If you are not getting a good number of new clients into your chair, t

he number of clients it gets smaller slowly.

Sadly during the pandemic, many clients left New York City. It was like ripping off years of independent hair stylists’ talent and hard work to build their clientele from them.

It was a heartbreaking experience for us over the Covid in NYC.
